During the fall of 2008 the town approved funding for the purchase of a new ladder truck to replace the 1983 American Lafrance 100' aerial. The specifications document was completed and the project put out to bid and the contract was signed by the Board of Selectmen the last week of 2008. Smeal Fire Apparatus of Synder, Nebraska was awarded the project.

The current project schedule has the Ladder-Tower to be completed and ready for the final inspection on January 14, 2010. Once the truck is inspected and accepted, the vehicle will be driven to the dealership in Connecticut for final preparation and outfitting before being delivered to Spencer.

As the apparatus is designed and built this webpage will be updated to reflect the progress.
